Bartender Resume

Why this resume works

  • As a bartender, you likely have years of experience in customer service. Whether that experience is in sales, as a server, or in bartending you know what it means to ensure customers have a great experience.
    • All customer experience is relevant on your resume when you're a bartender. You can make all of your experience on your bartender resume relevant by focusing on the people. Your ability to handle conflict, strike up pleasant conversation, and ensure guest satisfaction is exactly what will win the day.
  • Did you have the opportunity to coach junior staff or other service staff during your tenure as a bartender? Any sort of leadership experience will help you stand out among the hundreds of other applicants for the bartender roles you're applying to.

Server Bartender Resume

Why this resume works

  • When you're applying for an opportunity as a server bartender, it's vitally important that you demonstrate you have experience both as a server and a bartender. It doesn't matter if these were the same experience or different experiences, it's just important that you know what separates these roles and that you know what it takes to be a successful server and a successful bartender.
  • When you're applying for a service role like this, the education section of your resume is significantly less important than your work experience.
    • As you gain more experience in your service career your experience should take up less and less space on your service bartender resume.

Experienced Bartender Resume

Why this resume works

  • As an experienced bartender, it's vitally important that you show an increase in the level of leadership you've taken on throughout your career.
    • For example, try leading your job description bullet points with action verbs like "led," "exceeded," and "provided" to demonstrate leadership.
  • Have you had the opportunity to train or lead other bartending staff in your career? If so, you should explicitly mention this on your experienced bartender resume.
    • When applying for a senior bartending role, leadership experience will help you stand out among other applicants and drastically improve your chances of getting an initial interview.
  • One other way to make a statement is with a pop of color. Bartenders have a lot of leeways when it comes to this as bartending is, by nature, a dynamic and creative role.
    • Don't get carried away with an abundance of color, but choosing a complementary accent color might just be the perfect touch. We have a nice selection to choose from in our resume tool.

Entry-Level Bartender Resume

Why this resume works

  • When you're breaking into the bartending industry for the first time, your best bet to maximize your chances of getting an interview is to emphasize your past experience in customer service.
    • Bartending experience is not vital to helping you land an entry-level bartending role. Rather, it's much more important op demonstrate on your entry-level bartender resume that you have serious people skills.
      • You can learn the tools and tricks of the trade on the job as a bartender, but what can't be taught is the ability to interact with customers of all stripes.
  • The skills section of your resume should be limited to 5-10 skills. Customize the skills section for each bartender role for which you apply.
    • For example, if the job description repeatedly mentions "customer service" or "people first," then be sure to list it as a skill.

Event Bartender Resume

Why this resume works

  • On your event bartender resume, most likely you shouldn't bother with a resume objective. You should only include a resume objective if you're undergoing a career change into bartending or if you can customize your resume objective for each role you're applying for.
  • As an event bartender, try to emphasize your ability to customize your behavior to each event.
    • For example, if you've worked in high-end fashion events, you should emphasize that on your resume. Conversely, if you've worked events for programmers, demonstrate your flexibility to bartend for an entirely different crowd (nerdy audience?).
      • Flexibility is key as an event bartender!
